Steampunk Inspired Frame

I found a plain frame at the goodwill and decided to give it an upgrade. I added a vintage drawer pull, a lamp key, some gears and book page and button flowers.

The cute picture is one from one of the old time photo places at Silver Dollar City.

An Ideal Wife

This is a vintage Shadow box with clock parts and gears added in to give it a bit of a steampunk edge.

The background paper is the Letters from Home paper pad by DCWV. The gears are from Bead landing's found objects, the larger gears are actual clock works and you will also fine a brass handle and small light bulbs.

The flowers are all created from old book pages. The centers are either vintage buttons or beads.

The focal image is a retro note card promotional item from Virginia Slims.

I used a bit of paper to block off part of the saying and highlighted the phrase "An Ideal Wife" with a crystal drop.

Valentine Hot Air Balloon Card

This Card was created using the Stampin' Up! Lift Me Up Bundle which includes the hot air ballon stamps and the thinlets. The Tickets are from a retired stamp set. The cloud embossing folder is also retired.

I love this hot air balloon set so you will be seeing more items made that include this.

I used the small balloon stamp on the inside as well as some cloud stamps that come with the set and the Hope your day is on cloud nine. I used my marker to ink up only the words that I wanted. The stamp has Happy Birthday below the cloud nine saying.

Steampunk Soar

I have a couple of new creations to share. The background for the Soar is made from vintage book pages. The wings are a can that has been embossed and embellished with a glimmer heart and gears. The Soar is also cut from glimmer paper and embellished with gears.

I love the steampunk feel of the flying heart.

I also have a button bouquet created from a vintage dictionary and lovely old buttons. A retro 50's salt shaker acts as the vase.

Steampunk Hair Clips

My favorite accessory right now are the Steampunk inspired Hair clips that I made. I have made quite a few of them and when not wearing them in my hair I will clip them to a pocket or lapel to add a bit of geary goodness.

What I'm Reading

Hello All!

I just want to share this phenomenal series that I am reading. The books are by Emma Jane Holloway and include A Study in Silks, A Study in Darkness and A Study in Ashes. I love the combination of magic and machinery in this Steampunk version of Victorian London. The fact that she incorporates the amazing Sherlock Holmes as one to the supporting characters tickles my fancy to no end.

There is great character development, you feel for all of them. Even the bad guys have their moments of warmth and weakness that helps you feel their motivation and then the twist is thrown in that sets you back to disliking them once again. The main character Evelina Cooper, niece of Sherlock  Holmes is lovely in all her imperfections.

The machines are described with such detail that you can envision them. I so want to build a mouse and bird just like Evelina's, even though I don't have the power to bring them to life.

Good Reads Everyone.
