A Taste of History
I just discovered this show, it looks like it has been on for awhile. DVD's for 5 seasons are available. It so interesting to watch the way he cooks. Chef Staib uses actual 18th century recipes and give details of history as he cooks. All of the dishes are cooked exactly the way they would have been in the 18th century. Dutch ovens, spiders, and caldrons are used with an open fire in a large walkin fireplace. I have always wanted to have a colonial fireplace that I could use to cook in. I started subscribing to the Early American Life magazine in 1976 during the bicentenial and especially liked the issues that covered using a colonial fireplace.
